NORFOLK, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–UHSM (Unite Health Share Ministries), a faith-based health care nonprofit founded on Christian beliefs and values, today announced access to behavioral health benefits for all programs except fundamental. Now, members can lean on and utilize non-psychiatric individual, family, and marriage counseling services to help guide them through life’s challenges.

“Our mission is to support and uplift our member community,” said Christopher Jin, president of UHSM. “At UHSM, we believe that health should transcend the traditional physical bounds of care. Holistic health and well-being are of the utmost importance to us, especially as our members navigate through unprecedented times.”

According to a recent CDC report, 40 percent of U.S. adults reported struggling with elevated mental health issues or increased substance abuse in 2020. With the prevalence of anxiety disorder symptoms nearly three times higher than the previous year, the timely introduction of UHSM’s newest programs aims to combat this growing epidemic by offering members up to 10 counseling sessions. Continuing to pioneer its approach to affordable healthcare for members, UHSM is proud to provide its members access to unlimited and uninterrupted meditations, topics and guides through Abide, the world’s most popular Christian meditation app, at no charge.

Later this year, UHSM will continue its partnership with Brittney Moses, a Los Angeles-based content creator focused on the intersection of faith, mental health and wellness, to host a virtual mental health summit. This event will include influential speakers and cover relevant topics to spotlight and address the growing concern amongst mental health in adults and youth.
