SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Biosero, Inc., developer of automation solutions that enable laboratories to make better decisions in less time using more data, today announced two key hires as it expands commercial operations. Ryan Bernhardt joins the company as Chief Commercial Officer, and Ruth Petersen is named Director of Marketing.

“At Biosero, our mission is to shorten the time for results, discoveries, and cures with our software platforms for lab automation,” said Tom Gilman, CEO, Biosero. “Our world-class scheduling and data integration tools are already used in labs throughout life sciences. As we enter a phase of faster growth, I welcome Ryan and Ruth to our team. They bring tremendous experience in the research and automation fields and will help our company and our customers accelerate their paths to success.”

Prior to joining Biosero as Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Bernhardt spent six years at Eli Lilly and Company as part of the Discovery Automation Research and Technologies Group, where he led a team of automation engineers and scientists in the design, implementation, and operation of innovative automation initiatives. He also served as the automation architect and integration leader for the Lilly Life Sciences Studio, a state-of-the-art, fully automated drug discovery platform located at Lilly’s Biotechnology Center in La Jolla, California. Previously, he was the global business unit leader of emerging automation markets at Hamilton Robotics. Mr. Bernhardt also worked as a chemist at Coskata, Inc., and Dow AgroSciences. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Marian University in Indianapolis.

“As a longtime Biosero customer, I have a deep appreciation for how valuable Green Button Go software is for streamlining the discovery and development of treatments, tests, and cures for some of the world’s most debilitating conditions and diseases,” said Mr. Bernhardt. “I am truly excited to be part of this company’s commitment to enable breakthrough discoveries in disease management and cures.”

Ms. Petersen has more than 20 years of experience in bioengineering, drug discovery, and laboratory automation and instrumentation. Prior to joining Biosero, she held leadership roles at gene synthesis pioneer Codex DNA, Inc., lab automation firm Labcyte, Inc., and Agilent Technologies. She has also worked in applications development and support at Velocity11 and Aurora Discovery, Inc., and as an engineer at Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Aurora Biosciences Corp. Ms. Petersen earned her bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego.

“Biosero has a terrific track record in the laboratory automation sector and loyal customers who view us as a partner rather than a vendor,” said Ms. Petersen. “I look forward to bringing my own experience together with some of these impressive customer stories to help other scientists see that laboratory automation does not have to be complicated. In fact, the agnostic approach and deep understanding Biosero has of this market makes it completely accessible.”
